Walk with Equanimity
I am a qualified British Nordic Walking Instructor offering group walks and classes for older person populations group and those with mobility restrictions in and around the Barnsley area.
Nordic walking is an enhanced walking technique that uses poles to work your upper body as well as your legs. The poles mean that the effort is shared between the upper and lower body, so it feels easier than normal walking. Nordic Walking puts less strain on joints and can be very effective for people with mobility issues and older people population groups who find walking more difficult over longer distances.
Nordic Walking is one of the Physical Activities recommended by The Chief Medical Officer (CMO Guidelines) for Older Persons to promote Health Ageing.
In my Nordic walking groups, I add Pilates strength, mobility and balance exercises combined with walking for a whole-body physical activity. I also add Yoga inspired breathing techniques and mindfulness to promote well-being in nature.
My groups are fun and sociable and held in our lovely parks around the Barnsley Borough. We often have a cuppa and natter afterwards!
The classes are held in conjunction with Age UK Barnsley and are open to people aged 50 years plus.
Poles provided for the first 6 weeks. Pre-booking is essential.
